FreeColorPalettes started as a simple frustration: finding a decent color palette for a project always took longer than it should. Most resources were buried in noise, locked behind accounts, or cluttered with ads. The good stuff was there somewhere — it was just exhausting to find it.
So we built an alternative. A hand-curated library organized across 17 categories — UI schemes, dark mode, earth tones, neons, pastels, tropical, Nordic, retro, and more. Every palette is tagged so you can browse by mood, use case, or vibe without scrolling through hundreds of things that don't fit.
Beyond browsing, there's a full color generator that uses harmonic theory — complementary, analogous, triadic, monochromatic — to build palettes that actually work together. Tweak it, lock individual swatches, hit spacebar to regenerate, then export in whatever format you need: CSS variables, Tailwind config, SCSS, JSON, or plain hex.
No logins, no paywalls, no tracking. Copy a hex code, download a palette, drop it into your project — personal or commercial. That's the whole idea.
